Looking through my recent Pinterest saves for spring inspo, I started noticing a pattern. So, I thought I’d make a post about what spring is shaping up to look like including all of the textures, colours and pieces on my mind leading up to it.
The first thing on my mind is suede. It’s a classic fall staple, but it’s held on strong this year (maybe even gaining momentum). I’m talking bags, jackets, dresses, shoes, all the suede! Then, there’s sheer — especially sheer skirts which brings me to the next theme: skirts. Spring is when we can finally break out the skirts (without tights!), thank goodness! That means it’s time to bring out the mini, midi and maxi styles. Sneakers are also making a strong appearance, as always, and last but not least, stripes. I’m especially loving Miu Miu’s take.
Funny enough, I just realised that all of these start with ‘S’! So, without further ado, let’s get into it with the five S’s of spring!
Suede

Everything suede is my favourite right now, mainly because this kind of texture and shade brings richness and depth to any look. I’m also into different colours of suede such as Bottega Veneta’s matching blue suede co-ord which feels like a modern take on double denim, as well as Prada’s green suede loafers - so chic!
Stripes

When I tell you I had way too many striped items to include, I mean the number of tabs I had open looked like those tiny Instagram story dots. Since last year, Miu Miu has been the brand putting stripes back on the map in a big way, and their influence is just as strong this year.
Sheer

Mesh shoes had their moment last year, a trend that has persisted through to this year and if anything, has only gotten stronger. Now we’re seeing a rise in popularity in sheer everything — skirts, dresses and tops galore. I love a sheer pencil skirt with sequin details, as well as lace accents, especially when paired with something baggy like a relaxed tee or cashmere jumper.
Sneakers

Sneakers are a year-round staple, but for this spring I’m looking to retro silhouettes, suede styles and animal prints, of course, with a pop of red in there somewhere.
Skirts

It’s finally that time again to break out the skirts! After a long winter, nothing feels better than that first spring day you can confidently walk outside wearing a skirt. This year, I’m into a wide variety of skirts, from short sequinned numbers and midi denim to checked minis and long pleated styles.
Hopefully this makes you just as excited for spring dressing as I am!
Til next time,
Sophie xx
What's New & Noteworthy 21.03.25
Happy Friday! How’s it going? I can’t believe March is going by so quickly. What do you mean it’s already Aries season? Where did this month go?! On the bright side, spring has officially started, thank goodness. More sunshine is on the way. Let’s get into this week’s best new-ins!
The Minimalist Maximalist
A year ago, I would have confidently called myself a minimalist. If you asked me to define my style using Allison Bornstein’s three-word method, I would have said: minimal, oversized and comfortable. Today, oversized and comfortable still feel true (baggy tees and sneakers for life), but minimal? Not so much.
