Happy Friday! Who else is enjoying the longer evenings as of late? I know I am and it can only mean one thing: spring really is in full swing. The days of heavy faux fur coats are behind us, but that doesn’t mean we’re ready to ditch the outerwear altogether — at least not yet. In fact, jackets and coats are some of the most powerful pieces in a transitional wardrobe.
Spring is often dubbed a tricky season to dress for — we’ve all faced the “too warm for this, too cold for that” dilemma. But instead of seeing it as a challenge, think of it as an opportunity. This in-between weather gives us room to play with layers and combinations that cater to both cold mornings and sunny afternoons. It’s the perfect excuse to get creative with our styling.
I’ve pulled together my top picks from this season’s coats and jackets, along with some outfit ideas to get you inspired!

Some great high street finds on my radar:
Here are 7 outfits featuring this spring’s best coats and jackets:
01

Starting off with my personal favourite, this suede trench coat from Magda Butrym. I can’t get enough of suede this season plus these kinds of warm tones mix so well with other spring-like colours such as baby pink and light blue.
02

I love the rich burgundy shade of this Nour Hammour jacket. It could actually work equally as well for fall seeing as it’s got transitional qualities such as its shorter length and earthy shade. Also, I’ve wanted this Loewe tee ever since I saw it on Taylor Russell! The contrast between a casual tee, edgy leather jacket and smart pinstripe skirt creates a look that lends itself to any number of occasions.
03
Has anyone else noticed how popular polka dots are this season? They’re everywhere! I’m in love with this lightweight technical jacket from Jacquemus, it’s perfect for those unexpected rainy spells that spring/summer usually throws at us. The material of these pieces is usually baggy, so add some contrast with a pair of sleek patent heels. Since the pattern is busy, it’s best to stick to the existing colour palette of black and white along with a pair of blue jeans.

Stripes on stripes! Yes, I went there and I love it. I featured this suede Prada jacket in an earlier post this week and I had to include it here. This kind of shade is very warm, almost orange, which works really well with any kind of blue. Here, I went for blue shorts and ballet flats but this jacket could also work really well with a blue striped shirt and/or blue denim.
05
A khaki leather jacket just feels right for spring and Chloé’s rendition is pretty beautiful. A crisp white shirt complements earthy tones well and it also provides some structure to blue jeans. Finish the look off with some simple low-heel slingbacks and a canvas two-tone bag such as the L19 from Loro Piana.
06

I have a thing about tweed jackets, I really do. I just think they make any outfit look elevated, allowing you to pair them with basically anything and still look put-together e.g Adidas sneakers! I love the contrast between classic and casual. Also, if you’re on the hunt for an alternative to the Margaux bag that offers just as much spaciousness, this Attico bag is a pretty darn good match and it’s in suede!

A classic trench coat deserves an equally classic outfit — double denim. For the longest time, I thought I couldn’t pull it off but in the last couple of years the fashion scene has really embraced it and it’s now become one of my go-to outfits. For me, double denim looks best when you can get the shades to match as close as possible because it creates a cohesive, uniform base. Here, I’ve layered it with a trench coat from Isabel Marant, which is made from a linen blend, giving it a little more texture and versatility heading into summer.
Thanks for reading, I hope this gives you some spring outfit inspo and also happy trench coat season.
Have a great weekend, till next time,
Sophie xx
