What's New & Noteworthy 14.03.25
leather trousers, half-price Paris Texas heels and new mystery shows
Hey there and Happy Friday! How are things going? In this series I tell you all about the new-ins that are worth knowing about, some great sale items to have on your radar, plus a little chat about what I’m watching/doing lately. Let’s get into it!
Bag: I’ve noticed that this shape of bag (vanity style) has been gaining popularity lately, especially with styles like Loro Piana’s L19 bag taking off. The Bang Bang bag from Bottega Veneta has a similar vanity style but with the iconic intrecciato weave. I think it’s great as a top handle bag in the evening.
Sunglasses: Tortoiseshell sunglasses will always be calling my name…but these Loewe ones are just too good.
Leather trousers: I loveee the curved leg on these St. Agni trousers. Sometimes leather trousers can remind me of the ‘80s, but the curved leg is what makes it feel modern.
Suede jacket: Really in love with this Nili Lotan suede jacket. It’s got a very Khaite meets boho chic feel.
Dress: Structured but simple dresses like this are great for ‘lazy’ days when you don’t want to come up with a whole outfit. Simply throw on a dress and heels and it suddenly looks like a polished look!
Pink shirt: The perfect spring shirt from Dries Van Noten! Oversized, stripey and fresh. This shirt would pair so well with blue jeans, a dark brown blazer and loafers.
Check blazer: Stella McCartney always makes such well-tailored pieces. I love how this check blazer can easily be styled for year-round wear.
Slingbacks: These Amina Muaddi slingbacks take a classic style and elevate them with a glossy croc-embossed finish and angled square toe.
Skirt: Loving Loewe’s new gathered logo patch, seen across many of its newest items. I think it works particularly well for this mini skirt due to the draping creating a pleat-like effect. Plus the colour!
Leather top: Okay, I didn’t know this was something missing from my wardrobe until I saw it…but WOW, thank you Victoria Beckham for this creation.
Pinstripe blazer: The ultimate partner to jeans and a tee this spring/summer.
Heels: The mesh shoe trend from last year is definitely sticking around for 2025! These Jimmy Choo heels show us how to approach the trend in a polished and preppy way.

More thoughts and things from this week
I thought I’d give Surface a go on Apple TV. I’m really enjoying season 2, but does anyone else think season 1 was essentially just set up for season 2? It feels like we’re only now getting into the real story. Anyway, I’m definitely enjoying season 2 more and was so sad when I realised I had to wait until Friday for a new ep. New one out tonight though!
I also started watching Ratched on Netflix this week. I love Sarah Paulson as an actress and she’s brilliant at playing Nurse Ratched. If you’ve ever seen AHS and liked its creepy feel, Ratched has a very similar vibe.
During winter, I gave away some old dresses and invested in some cosy sweaters instead. It’s only now that I’m thinking about spring outfits, that I realised my dress selection is looking rather bare so I decided I must go on the hunt for some finds. This (so good!), this and this, are in my cart. I can’t choose!!
What are we thinking for spring nails? This colour is calling me…
Came across this in a book shop this week. If you’re interested in the history of iconic bags or just want an aesthetically pleasing book about bags, I think you’d really like it.
It was my bday on Monday and I went to a very lovely sushi restaurant (one of my favourite foods!). This particular place was set up like a buffet — I’d never experienced a sushi buffet before. It was great because you can just pick exactly what you like!
Til next time,
Sophie xx
The Minimalist Maximalist
A year ago, I would have confidently called myself a minimalist. If you asked me to define my style using Allison Bornstein’s three-word method, I would have said: minimal, oversized and comfortable. Today, oversized and comfortable still feel true (baggy tees and sneakers for life), but minimal? Not so much.
Spring is Calling...
Don’t mind me doing an internal happy dance that spring is very much approaching. The mood is: skirts, suede and stripes. To get us in the mood for a change in season, here’s some outfits I’ve been planning as of late…
